Nothing big today... the other pathologists consulted agree on the diagnosis of infantile fibrosarcoma, so it's official. The doc was very pleased this morning when he saw Alan. He was playing around the crib with the new toy that Sarabelle and Sienna's mommy had brought for him. He was moving around quite a bit more, putting weight on his right leg and sitting up on his own.
When holding him, we can feel the lump on his right side getting hard. The doc says that is the scar tissue forming on the dying tumour. It's nice to be feeling some direct evidence that thing is being killed!
Chemotherapy #2 tomorrow, just the vincristine this time. If Alan gets through the night smoothly, we'll be home by Sunday evening. The doc is letting us stay until Monday if we feel the need, but he thinks Alan will be ready tomorrow. I'm still nervous because the chemo was so irritating to him last time, but of course that was the big VAC treatment. So we're splitting the difference, assuming everything goes well tomorrow.
But, the doc will be seeing us for office visits Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the next two weeks. A bit of a break from all the poking and prodding, but not a complete reprieve!
