A slow day

Today will be a slow day. Someone came in during the wee hours of the morning to take an X-ray of Alan's chest and abdomen. The doctor had the results when he came to see us this morning - clear lungs and gas in his tummy. No wonder he's been so uncomfortable! But he's been pooping steadily, if in small doses, since yesterday afternoon. I'm glad I have a biohazard bin for all the dirty diapers!

We're starting to switch Alan's pain medication from IV morphine to Tylenol with codeine, presumably to prepare us to manage his pain while we're at home. We will have another ultrasound on Friday, and his second treatment of chemotherapy on Saturday.

We will probably be discharged on Monday, so we're working on getting the house cleaned for Alan's return. Time to start looking for extra babysitters too, since much of the time we will not want Alan to be at the drop-off daycare or the child center at the club. We are going to need to adjust to a new kind of normal now.

  1. Judy - let us know how we can help in the babysitting category. Lot's of neighborhood mommies wanting to help! Cathy B.
