Day 2 update

We had a chat with Alan's doctor and he thinks we'll have the test results from the biopsy by tomorrow. As best he can figure, the tumour has been growing for about a month which, in retrospect, sounds about right. He's seen tumours grow to this size in just two days, so we're lucky to have a slow growing one. Other good news is that it isn't interfering with his spine.

Tomorrow we should be consulting with the surgeon who will put the port in for chemotherapy and discuss a bone marrow biopsy. In the meantime, we continue the waiting game.

Do I hear an echo?

In the day of continuing tests, Alan had an echocardiogram. He was not happy to be forced to lie down, so eventually Daddy held him up. Ah, much better! Now at least he was mildly curious about the chilly ultrasound goo and wand, and the big screen with all those strange pictures.

In recovery

Alan went in for his MRI, another CAT scan and biopsy this morning. Because he would have to be still for 35-40 minutes for the MRI, he was put under general anesthesia for all the tests. We were able to see him around 11.

Alan was understandably cranky - after all, he hadn't had anything to eat or drink since before midnight. But when he relaxed enough to lie back for a while, he became mesmerized by the beep and trace of his monitor. That's our boy, he just loves the beeping gadgets!
