06/10/10-0445Alan slept through last night with just a few quick wake-ups. When he woke up this morning though, he was very cranky and irritable and almost inconsolable. We had another abdominal ultrasound this morning because the docs wanted to be sure that the pressure on his kidneys wasn't getting worse. The results, the hydronephrosis hasn't gotten worse, but there was a huge pocket of gas in his tummy which was one of the big causes of his upset today.

The other was chemotherapy treatment four of five. It went smoothly, but the nurse today said that Etoposide was pretty high on the list of chemotherapy drugs that can really knock you out. He's pretty much been fussy or sleeping all day. The blood cultures didn't come back with any results and Alan's fever has eased today. Doc A is completing the course of antibiotics in case the bacterial load of the culture was too low to show anything, and also ordered a few more tests this afternoon to be sure his fussiness and pain isn't anything more serious than gas and chemo side effects.
One more treatment tomorrow and we'll hopefully be home by the weekend!
Not to sounds like a dummy or anything, but for gas in the tummy aren't there simple OTC meds that are supposed to get rid of that? (Like Gas-X or something...)
