06/02 09:22We've had several rough nights, with Alan in pain and sleeping very restlessly, as well as having a very low energy and activity level the last few days. He wasn't eating anything and was hardly drinking any water or Pediasure. The Vincristine over the last three weeks have really caused a lot of constipation, and the fact that the tumor has been pressing up on his intestines has added to the problem. We were extremely worried, as well as being exhausted. The only thing that kept us from completely panicking was the fact that he always seemed to be relieved any time he pooped or tooted - implying that the problem was constipation and not anything more serious.

By the time we saw the docs, we were pretty tense. They were happy with how he looked, but knew he had to get some relief. We were given permission to up his dose of Miralax and a prescription for something to counteract the stress and anxiety. This way, not only could he get some sleep but it would help him let go of the tension in his gut. It made him a little loopy, but his appetite came right back that evening, with a vengeance - he drank so much, so fast that he threw up. It was very similar pattern to last summer when he had the feeding tube in. We slowed down the amount he was given to drink and he was fine until the next morning. A bit more vomit in the morning as he drank too quickly again, but after a messy stressful morning, Alan gained back his old appetite and energy level. This afternoon we were so happy to see him running around and playing again.
Alan's counts were great, so we don't have to come back to the office this week. We will be going to the hospital on Monday for the next round of chemotherapy.
Thinking of you, Judy. I hope you all have a good weekend and that you can rest before Monday.
