Office visit 5/6

Just a quick visit for a blood draw and vitals to see how he's recovering from the slight fever yesterday. Alan was also given a shot of Neupogen (hey Helen! it's from Amgen!), which will help him make white blood cells. It is a man-made form of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). He will get one shot a day for two weeks, so we are going back to the clinic tomorrow so Mommy can show them that she knows how to do it. Yikes!

We also stocked up on Tegaderm because Alan managed to pull out his NG tube a few inches last night. Daddy was on top of it and managed to stop him before it came all the way out, thus saving us another trip to the hospital. We're going through Tegaderm and Steri-Strips to secure the tube at quite a fast rate though. Alan is at a tricky age. He's too young to rationalize with - if you pull it out we'll just have to reinsert it, if you eat you won't have to have it. But at the same time, he's old enough to be clever about getting the tube out - his favourite trick is rubbing his face on a blanket to roll the bandage so it's loose enough for him to pull off.
