We've been spending the last couple of days trying to figure out how to manage Alan in his cast. We moved a couple of mattresses into the library so one of us could sleep with Alan on the ground floor. Our friend Karen converted some shorts and a pair of pants with velcro on the side seams so we could dress Alan more easily and helped us find a solution for a cast diaper cover. Auntie Joys has been hauling Alan around on her hip, no mean feat, and figuring out what chairs and toys are good for Alan to sit on. The bean bag chair has been a godsend but it's taken us a couple of days to find the configuration that Alan is most comfortable in. Alan wants to be upright as much as possible (so much that he fell asleep sitting up in the bean bag early this evening, though that was partly because he wouldn't nap after the afternoon walk), and likes sitting on someone's lap the best. He's been used to having one of us practically in arm's reach for the last month so he wants the attention.
Things will be tougher when Auntie Joys heads home later this month, but we're very grateful for the help right now. It's a work in progress, but as of today it's one week down, only five more to go.
Escape!!! Out for a walk
