Happy New Year!

It has been a great start to the new year. Yesterday, we left the hospital in the afternoon, leaving us plenty of time for a nice nap before the New Year's Eve festivities at the Ronald McDonald House. Our many new friends at the RMHH were so happy to see Alan.

It was lovely to sleep in this morning, with no where to go. After breakfast and some time spent visiting with the other parents, Daddy stayed with Alan down in the toy room while Mommy set about unpacking everything we brought back from the hospital and repacking it all to go home to San Antonio.

We took a break in the afternoon going for a walk around Hermann Park with some of the other families from the RMHH. This was Alan's first real excursion outside since his surgery over three weeks ago. It was a beautiful sunny day, especially after a week of cloudy, wet weather. It was busy as we walked past the zoo and around the lake, pausing every so often to rest and recharge. Alan enjoyed the fresh air and sights which really piqued his appetite - he munched on some dried bananas and strawberries and white cheddar popcorn. After the wind picked up and started sending water from the fountain in our direction, we all made our way back to the Ronald McDonald House for a late lunch.
