Office visit 3/5

We came in today just for counts, but unfortunately Alan's port gave us some trouble. We ended up having to hang around to use some TPA to clear up the port to get a good blood return. His counts are still good... decreased a bit as expected.

Of course, by the time we were able to get good counts, Doc P had to go to a meeting, so Patsy the nurse practitioner had to answer our questions today.

Alan has had a skin rash that occasionally pops up around the area where a bandage is placed on his chest. Typically it only shows up if that bandage stays on for several days like last week. We were able to use children's Benedryl to control it and we got a script for a topical antibiotic in case he scratches a little too much. However she didn't seem too worried about it.

Our bigger concern was about going to Dallas to visit our good friends for Spring Break next week. Though Daddy had asked about going, he forgot that one of the children in Dallas is recovering from mononucleousis, and so didn't ask until today. She laid out some precautions for us that we already knew about (don't share drink cups, that kind of thing). She really says it depends how his counts are so we may not be able to make a final determination until this upcoming Monday. We will see this Wednesday how his counts are trending.
