01/30 12:04Another check on Alan in preparation for his next chemo treatment this Thursday.
ANC 2310
The weekend was a bit busier than expected. Both boys got sick, including high fevers and congestion with coughing. We were especially concerned about Alan, being that we had switched him to the double Fentanyl patch, so we didn't know how much of his sleeping was due to the bug the boys got, and how much was due to the Fentanyl. However, both boys were fever-free by Sunday mid morning, and seemed to be in good spirits through the day.
Monday morning, both boys went to school, Alan especially wanting to go. But about an hour or so later, the school called saying Alan was crying. He was asleep when he picked him up, so we let him rest at home until it was time for his visit with Doc P today. Alan loves school, but his body may simply not be able to let him stay for his normal day.
At Doc P's office, he was a little fussy due to being tired and having been sick for a lot of the weekend. Doc P said the Fentanyl patches will make Alan very sleepy. We talked about Alan being sick, so they decided to take a blood culture of his port to make sure there aren't any surprises. He also wants us to come back Wednesday and to call him immediately if he runs any sort of fever between now and then... basically, he wants to keep a very close eye on Alan since he was sick.
Oh NO!!!! Hope they're both better soon.
