We're back in San Antonio and in Doc P's office. He was surprised as we were with the results of Alan's scans. A closer look at the MRI report showed that the component of the tumor in his spine had shrunk somewhat even though the rest had grown. That could account for Alan's increased comfort and mobility. However the report also shows that the tumor is displacing Alan's rectum and the bladder to the left. We will have to keep on top of Alan's constipation problems. The right kidney is swollen, even though Doc P has been keeping his eye on Alan's creatinine levels. The levels have been normal, so it it's likely that the right kidney has been picking up the slack.

Doc P wants to show the scans to some local surgeons. He wants to be sure that given the size of the tumor that Doc L will resect a large portion of the tumor as well as apply cryoablation. Hopefully he will have a chance to consult with Doc H2 before the conference on Wednesday morning. Doc P, like us, is leaning towards getting Alan into surgery to remove as much as the tumor as possible to ease the impact it is having on him and buy us time to find a chemotherapy regimen that will have an effect on it.

Alan's counts are back up but just barely on the right side of neutropenic. Doc P wants Alan to continue to have Neupogen through the weekend. So we will go to Relay For Life tonight but Alan will have to skip the trip to SeaWorld tomorrow with Grandma and he won't be going back to school until we come back to the office on Monday to confirm that his counts are back up.
