12/12 12:21The office wasn't busy and because Alan was already accessed from last night's visit to the ER, labs went fairly quickly.

However, we did get a chance to have a long discussion with Doc P on Alan's condition. He also got to see Alan do his 'contortion' thing, grabbing at his leg and making like he was trying to eat his foot. These symptoms reaffirmed his belief that what we are seeing is the result of a pinched nerve, though the exact cause remains unclear.
Because Alan was so irritable, Doc P prescribed Gabapentin for nerve treatment that helps relax and soothe the nerves without deadening them and Hydrocodone as a general pain management treatment. However, the nerve treatment requires time to act - a level has to build up in Alan's system which can take a few days. Along with today's chemo treatment of Vincristine and Irinotecan, Alan was given some Ativan to take the edge off the pain, which made him sleepy (which he really needed).
Things were looking good for the first day of chemo for this round. Until Alan vomited up everything in his stomach. We figured it was a one time occurrence... until he did it in the car. And also at home every time he tried to drink something. Basically, he emptied the contents of his stomach and couldn't hold down anything for the rest of the day. Just before we went to bed, we gave him some Zofran to help with the nausea.
Our concern is now that the whole week will be like this, and/or his symptoms are getting worse.
