An unusual weekend visit to the office - we started chemo late because of the Memorial Day long weekend, so we're here on a Saturday. Aside from one other patient here for a quick visit, it's just the whole family and Doc P. We had lunch from Einstein Bros. Bagel and watched Tron. While we had Doc P all to ourselves, we had him fill out the medical paperwork that will allow him to occasionally attend the Summer Fun program at his preschool as well as the notes to exempt him and Kevin from having all the updated immunizations.
He was a little warm but the temp was fine when Doc P brought the thermometer to check. When the Irinotecan was done and the needle and bandages were removed, we were all surprised to see that the blister at the end of Alan's incision looked a little ookie. Doc P was concerned that the suture would become infected with repeated exposure and travel down the line. He cleaned the area off with some iodine and told us to come in Monday morning when he could take a closer look at it.
After a short restless nap, Alan woke up with a high fever over 101 degrees. Doc P called in a prescription for antibiotics which we started that evening and with some ibuprofen and Tylenol his fever came down. We'll still be back to the office first thing Monday for a follow up.
