Post Spica Cast Two Weeks

We've been nervous about Alan's fragility since the cast came off. He's has been improving his mobility and his comfort level day by day but until the last few days we've been at a loss seeing our strong, stubborn boy so down. Doc L said it would take two weeks for him to start feeling confident again, and at the two week mark today, he stood himself up at a chair in is room at bedtime. He's been sitting up by propping himself up on his hands, rolling over, getting up on his hands and knees.

Our PT has said Alan will literally going through baby steps, but he's been doing so at a fast pace. While he definitely moves better while wearing the braces, he's been able to move himself without them as well. It will just be a matter of time before he starts pulling at the braces to be free of them. He isn't bearing weight on his bad leg yet, but perhaps he's ready to start physical therapy to re-learn how to walk. The next week should be very interesting.

Alan was motivated to sit himself up so he could drop coins back into the jar. Fun!
