We are home now and Alan is sleeping in his bedroom for the first time since the beginning of December. It's still not completely normal - we're a little paranoid so one of us will sleep with him in Kevin's bed and Kevin gets to sleep in Mommy and Daddy's big bed until Alan is a little less fragile. But on that front things are getting a little better. While having his diaper changed, Alan was so distracted playing with the music box on his bed he didn't protest until he was wiped, and even then it was a rather half-hearted, just for the principle of the matter protest. In the last day, he's been playing more and just generally been a little more happy.
A couple of housekeeping notes now that we are settling back at home.
First, Judy will be participating in the Relay for Life for the third year. We are part of an amazing team that has taken up Alan as their inspiration and have been such a support to us. Judy has been driven by Alan's fight of course, but is also walking for the memory of her cousin Ruth and our dear little friend Collin, as well as all of Alan's fellow little Sarcoma warriors. The Relay benefits the American Cancer Society who have done so much for us since Alan's diagnosis almost two years ago. Any support would be appreciated - donation, participation, attending one of our fundraisers, coming to cheer us on, or purchasing a luminaria to light the track.
Finally, due to popular demand, we have added e-mail updates to the blog. On the column to the right you can find the "Get Updates by E-mail" box. Fill that in, and new blog entries will be sent right to your e-mail box. We hope you'll still come to the blog to leave comments (they are always a big source of support and inspiration for us) and check for updates on the posts. Sometimes we'll add extra details later or photos when we've had a chance to upload them.
As always, thank you for following Alan's fight and your support!
