Settling in and recovery

It's been a nice quiet day back home. Alan is almost back to normal. We've been carrying him up and down the stairs, but otherwise he's moving on his own. Our biggest problem is Alan itching where the Tegaderm dressing irritated his skin. We have it covered with gauze right now, but because he was in separate pants and top when we came home from the hospital, he was able to scratch and pull off several of the Steri Strips holding his incision together.

Yikes, these were supposed to stay on for two weeks! After a quick call to the post-surgical ward for some advice, we replaced the Steri Strips (luckily we had them on hand from the NG tube days) and put him in a one-piece sleeper so he wouldn't be able to get to them as easily. Itching and aching aside, Alan was so happy to be back to his regular routine, including bath time splashing with his big brother!

We have our first post-surgery appointment with Doc P on Wednesday - hopefully we can go over the preliminary pathology results and discuss the next step.
