10/15 0430Hurray, what a difference a window makes! Alan was woken up rather early this morning (IV fluids mean massive diapers!) and played with the volunteer grandma after a breakfast of yogurt and pancakes while Mommy had a shower. Afterwords, she brought him some stickers which he had fun examining and playing with. Alan was sitting and waving them around noisily when Mommy realized it had gotten really quiet. She looked over and Alan was asleep! Having a window and a larger, more open room really made him feel less restricted and instead of trying to "break free" he was relaxed enough to have a nap.

Doc P came in to tell us that Alan's red cell counts were a little low (9.1), so when the chemo finishes late tonight, Alan will get a transfusion. Better to do it now while he's in the hospital rather than let him go home and have the counts dip even lower over the weekend.
Thank God for the volunteer grandma! I remember when Liam was in the hospital and they called the volunteers "cuddlers"...
