Oh ya! Food is good

Well, it's day 3 of Alan being tube-free, and he is starting rediscover food! We started with apple sauce this morning. He was taking food from a spoon for the first time since our first week in the hospital. After a few spoonfuls, we beefed it up with some olive oil (a calorie-boosting trick we learned for Kevin) and rice cereal. By the time he was done, he had eaten at least 1/3 cup.

Now that his taste buds and tummy were reminded how yummy food was, he was trying everything! except the baby Cheetos he had the other night - he pushed them aside to try something new. But the freeze-dried apple bits, Baby MumMums, cheerios, puffs, and even sweet potato fries were all big hits. He would gobble down a bunch, go play, and come back later for more.

The volume of food still isn't enough to sustain him, but it's a start. Unfortunately, he's still refusing to drink even plain milk, which would go a long way to increasing his daily calorie count. Water is still his drink of choice. We'll keep working on it!
