Doc P was able to talk to Doc L about Alan's case. The good news is that her colleagues concurred with her assessment of Alan's treatment, which means a much less invasive surgery than we were expecting (though more aggressive than his surgery in January), an easier, faster recovery and no cast. The bad news is that Doc L's schedule is quite full, which means we won't be able to set a date for Alan's surgery until November. So if we want to stick with the plan to have her and the sarcoma team at MD Anderson take care of Alan's treatment, Doc P will give him another round of chemo to keep that tumor down.

The choice to have a surgeon in San Antonio take out the tumor is still on the table (a surgeon that Doc L trained is here in San Antonio now and would be an option for us), but Doc P thinks that waiting for Doc L and her team would be the better decision. We think so too - this is the second time around and having someone of Doc L's caliber have direct contact and visuals of Alan's condition is invaluable. Doc P assured us that another round of Vincristine and Irinotecan will be safe for Alan, and well worth the time it gives use to wait for a spot on Doc L's schedule. Doc P wanted us to have a chance to discuss it, but he'll go ahead and talk scheduling with Doc L based on the next chemo and Alan's projected recovery from it.
