Post-Op MRI

After a bit of delay, Alan had his first post-op MRI. We were scheduled for 10 am, but we were delayed for about an hour thanks to an emergency earlier in the day and shortage of staff - not only was one of the nurses on maternity leave, but because Alan requires anesthesia rather than sedation, they have to wait until there is both a doctor and a nurse available to accompany him to the scan. They recommended that for Alan's next scan to be sure to ask for the 9 am spot and that he not be booked with another patient.

Once Alan finally got to the scan, I had a chance to get together with Collin's Mom for a cup of coffee. Collin is finally home after 14 weeks in the hospital and it was so nice to hear how well he was doing. We had a nice long visit until the nurse came to tell us that Alan was back in the PACU. After a bit of a snooze, Alan woke up and guzzled down a bottle of apple juice. After fasting since bedtime the night before and being NPO since waking up, he was ready for something to drink. In fact, he was hungry enough to eat some chicken and rice soup when we got home! Hopefully he likes the taste enough to keep that up!
