06/08 10:57Good counts again, thank goodness for small mercies! Alan's uric acid level is still a little high so we're starting a new medication to take care of that. Hopefully, it might also make him feel better enough to eat a bit. Doc A had Alan laughing and curious with his bouncing and dancing. That was a nice light note before heading back to Pediatric Radiology in the sub-basement.

Doc P ordered an NJ tube this time - Nasal/Jejunum. We are bypassing the stomach and duodenum and going straight into the middle portion of the small intestine. Hopefully, with the tube so far in, Alan will not be able to vomit up the tube and we can forestall the G-tube for longer. We'll also change the feeding strategy. Alan hasn't had any problems with the boluses during the day, or with the rate for the continuous feeds at the beginnings of the night. We think part of the problem was late in the continuous feed when the cumulative amount may have become just too much for him. So, instead of 12 hours overnight, we'll go for 10. We'll aim for 1000 calories a day between the overnight feeds, the daytime boluses, and (cross your fingers) actual eating.
